Details
Shrove Tuesday is the day immediately preceding Ash Wednesday (the first day of the 40 days of Lent, leading into Easter). The word 'shrove', derived from 'shrive', refers to the confession of sins in preparation for Lent.
Shrove Tuesday, known in Ireland as 'Fat Tuesday' is a day where people traditionally fill their stomachs with pancakes - using up all their eggs, butter and milk (forbidden for making pastries and other delicacies during Lent).
As an alternative to a 'food' fast, many now consider taking a 40 day break from social media, from TV, from Netflix or simply making the extra time for doing something good.
Food Provided (Free pancakes!)
