In orientation week there will be launch events on three campuses, introducing you to this exciting project for 2024.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Drop by to learn about this exciting project involving ACU students and staff, in partnership with people from the wider community. With easy-to-learn music, join with others to make a real difference. Sing in the choir, play in the orchestra, or help in other ways! There will be opportunities for credit for ACU Community Engagement units.

The award-winning, Australian music is multi-faith, multi-language and highly accessible, designed for a wide range of abilities. 30+ performances worldwide have raised awareness and funds to help thousands of people in need.

BIG SING: ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Sing in the choir
Vocal soloist (by audition)
Play in the orchestra
Piano accompaniment (rehearsals)
Music leadership e.g., conducting
Music library (eg distribution)
Music tool development (eg practise tracks)
Manage the choir (eg attendance, announcements)
Manage external collaborators (eg comms with school groups, agency clients)
ACU Life site management
PR (eg poster distribution on campus, socials, recruitment)
Research (survey design, data analysis)
Concert program design / editing
Fund raising (eg to cover cost of music)

SCHEDULES

Choir Schedule:

Orientation Day (1 hour)
On-campus rehearsals (12-15 hours)
Combined rehearsals (5 hours)
Dress rehearsal (3 hours)
Tech rehearsal & performance (3 hours)

25 hours total (minimum)

Instrumental Schedule:

Orchestra rehearsals (5 hours)
Combined rehearsals (5 hours)
Dress rehearsal (3 hours)
Tech rehearsal and performance (3-4 hours)

16 hours total (minimum). If you wish to complete 25 hours for CE fulfilment, additional rehearsals can be attended or an additional task added from the list of opportunities.
