This is a jam-packed newsletter with a TON of important information. We have a VERY busy month ahead, with only ONE MONTH before our big concerts! Please take our your calendar and make note of the important dates. 

Have questions? A link to a mandatory Registration Form will be shared soon (early next week) that all participants are required to complete (this is where you'll upload your Working With Children Check scan). It will contain a LOT of the information you're seeking beyond the information in this email and provided already elsewhere. 

TICKETS

Now on sale via Humantix, for the Ballarat performance, Melbourne performance, and the Livestream. ACU staff and students are eligible for a $5 discount using access code "ACU". Anyone with these tickets may be asked to show their ACU ID at the door. Please share the link widely! Tickets are 100% tax deductible. Link to Tickets
 

PROMOTE THE CONCERT

Concert descriptions can be found with the tickets. Here are some images you can use on your social media sites or via email to share with your friends, family and fans! Add your own "spin" by telling people why you're part of this event, such as your passion for the cause (advocacy for people who experience homelessness and insecure housing), why you love the music, or something else relevant and personal.

Orientation Day 23 July - THANK YOU

Thank you to Ivy, Courtney, Lauren, Natalie, Christina, Jordan and Sei Youn (and anyone else who came along) for helping to run our ACU Choir stall on Tuesday. There were about 500 new students in attendance. We signed up about 10 new people, plus many others were interested and planning to join via ACU Life. 

Thank you also to those who came along for our rehearsal, especially students who came in just for this. MOST of the choir consisted of sopranos! Very impressive. We also had a community member, Susan, joining us for the first time. Susan has sung Street Requiem many times previously, including several overseas performances. 

Welcome

To those who are new to the choir, welcome! We are preparing for a massive performance weekend on August 24-25. There is a Registration Form coming soon for all participants to complete. It will contain the complete information and you can also find details in the ACU Choir Melbourne website in ACU Life.

Music

Copies of the music will be available for new members. For existing members, it's time for you to start bringing your music to rehearsals, please. 

 

SCHEDULE

Additional "Events" for each session will be added to ACU Life soon! Your RSVP is encouraged to help with planning. 

TOMORROW (Saturday 27 July, 10am - 12:30pm) we are providing an OPEN REHEARSAL at the Flinders Fringe Winter Warmer event on the Mornington Peninsula. If you want to go and need a ride, please let us know ASAP. There are a couple of drivers offering rides from FRANKSTON TRAIN STATION at 9am. RSVP via the EVENT in ACU Life so we can connect you with drivers. This will be ACU Choir combined with community members, as well as members attending the Winter Warmer festival who will join in or observe. It's a fantastic opportunity for us to recruit singers and sell tickets, plus the Winter Warmer is raising funds to support a local charity that helps people who are homeless on the Mornington Peninsula (around 1200 people sleep rough each night in the area). 

Welcome Back Day 

We have a CHOIR STALL on Wednesday 31 July, 10:30am to 1:30pm to welcome students back to campus for Semester 2, Please indicate if you're available to help out and WHAT TIME you're available. SIGN UP HERE.

CAMPUS REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

I've indicated the combined rehearsals. Other rehearsals during the week are primarily for ACU participants, but others are very welcome to come along if they wish.

Sat 10 August, 1-4PM combined with community groups. Either the Music Room (115 Victoria Parade, Fitzroy, Mary Glowrey Building 420, basement, room 20) or the Recital Hall (Graham Street, Building 408). I am still awaiting confirmation of the location because it's Open Day the following day and organisers are storing equipment in the Recital Hall. I'll let you know when the venue has been confirmed. 

Sun 11 August, OPEN DAY 1PM in the Urban Theatre. This is a HUGE opportunity for us! We also have a CHOIR STALL that day. The RSVP will include sign-up options for helping out. 

Sat 17 August, 1-4PM combined with community groups. Recital Hall (Graham Street, Fitzroy, Building 408).

Fri 23 August, 6-9PM combined with community groups. Cathedral Hall, 20 Brunswick St, Fitzroy. Enter via Duke Street.

7:30pm approx. Return time at St Pat's
