Our performances are now LESS THAN THREE WEEK away! Very exciting. Even if you've not been to a rehearsal for ages (or ever), now is the time to get on board.
This announcement includes:
- Registration Form - compulsory (complete ASAP, before 10 August)
- Mission Week activities with BIG SING (Tues 5-6pm, Thu 11am-12pm)
- Saturday: combined rehearsal, 1-4PM in the MUSIC ROOM
- Sunday: Open Day -- booth + 1pm Open Rehearsal

Must be completed by EVERYONE participating. (If you are a parent of a minor, please complete a form on their behalf also). Please complete before August 10.The form includes:
- ACU Waiver of liability
- Risk assessment and child safeguarding
- Working With Children Check upload (with the option to upload to a different location later if you don't have it yet)
- Details for Ballarat and St Patrick's Cathedral
- Bus sign-up
- Music and performing protocols, instructions and expectations

Mission Week at ACU
This week at ACU is Mission Week. We have a lot going on, including two Open Rehearsals. We will use these to align with Mission Week, perhaps recruit a few more singers or helpers, and promote ticket sales. In preparation for the upcoming performances of ACU's BIG SING for a BIG CAUSE, you are invited to attend an Open Rehearsal in the Chapel. There are two short sessions available. Project leader Dr Kathleen McGuire will talk about the inspiration behind the music: Street Requiem for those who died on the street, which she co-created in 2014. The music is highly accessible, designed for community engagement. Kathleen will teach a few easy songs, or you can sit and listen. No pressure. Or drop by the Chapel (or Level 9 lunch room) to pick up a flyer or two.

Tuesday, 6 August, 5-6PM
Thursday, 8 August, 11am-12pm
Other opportunities to get involved in this special project include:
- Volunteer* (helpers are needed – ushering, program design etc.)
- Play in the orchestra* (needed: violin, viola, cello, oboe, guitar, drum kit, yidaki, bodhrán)
- Sing feature spot (needed: solo in Arabic or Persian; chanters in Latin)
- Promotions (e.g., share info on your socials, send emails to friends and family)
- Buy a ticket and attend the concert
- Make a donation and view the livestream
More information: The project theme is advocacy for students and others experiencing insecure housing and homelessness. 100% of funds raise will benefit charities. In addition to 40 ACU students and staff, there are 150 performers involved from schools, other universities, community groups including a choir of vulnerable adults, and even a choir visiting from New Zealand. Free tickets will be provided to people in the homelessness sector.

Concert 2: Sun 25 August, 3PM - St Patrick's Cathedral, East Melbourne

- ACU's Urgent Financial Relief Grant for students experiencing housing insecurity

Saturday: Combined Rehearsal
Our first big combined rehearsal!Date: Saturday 10 August
Time: 1-4pm
Location: Music Room (420-LG-20) in the basement of the Mary Glowrey Building, 115 Victoria Pde. Fitzroy.
Finding the room: From the lift, turn left and follow a short hallway to the end.
Accessibility: The room is wheelchair accessible. Take the lift to level LG.
What to bring: Your music, a pencil. Your instrument (if applicable). There are some old folding music stands available for instrumentalists.
What to wear: Dress warmly (although there will be many of us, but it can sometimes be cold)
Sunday: Open Day (Choir booth + rehearsal)
Booth, 10am - 3pm
(Exact location will be updated in the EVENT when the information is available).This is a FANTASTIC opportunity to promote ticket sales for the concerts.
On the Event RSVP, please indicate if you can help out at the booth and for how long. The more the merrier!
We have PRINTED 500 postcards to distribute.
Rehearsal
We will have an "Open rehearsal" in the URBAN THEATRE, 1-2PM. Located at 115B Victoria Pde in the St Teresa of Kolkata Building, levels G / LG. The theatre is located at the corner of Victoria Pd and Napier St. Head to the windows.
Wheelchair accessible via level LG.
