Call to Action: Stop the RANZCP from Promoting Anti-Trans Rhetoric at their 2024 Congress
Whether you're queer or an ally, please sign and share The ANU Queer* Department's petition to stop the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) from platforming Alison Clayton, Robert D'Angelo and Patrick Clarke, who are scheduled to speak on trans mental health and detransitioning at the
2024 RANZCP Annual Congress. As academics, they have direct ties to a large anti-trans think tank (the SEGM), reject the broadly accepted gender affirming care model, and add to the general moral panic surrounding basic trans healthcare and trans rights.
The gender-diverse community deserve more informed, empathetic discussions about trans healthcare from one of Australia's leading psychiatric bodies, NOT fear-mongering and speculation.
