Details
Over 2 days (February 16 & 17, 2026) using a practical, evidence-based action plan, you will learn how to approach a young person you are concerned about and initiate a conversation about those concerns.
You will also learn how to offer initial support and information and how to encourage the person to seek professional help or other supports.
This training also assists participants to distinguish between normal and expected changes during adolescence and development of mental health problems.
Once you complete the course and the short online quiz, you will become a Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider), equipped with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to provide someone with mental health information and support when it matters most.
IMPORTANT INFO FOR PARTICIPANTS:
The training will run from 8:30 am - 5 pm on Monday 16 & Tuesday 17 February 2026.
You must be 18+ years to participate.
Cost = $95
(Note: cost is subsidised for ACU students and may increase for future courses.)
In order to complete the course, you will need to be present for the entirety of both days.
Following the course, you can complete an online quiz to become an accredited Mental Health First Aider for 3 years.
The Youth Mental Health First Aid course runs to a packed schedule, so on both days participants will need to arrive a few minutes early so we can start on time.
Please bring a pen and a notebook. You will be provided with a comprehensive manual, and you will not need to take extensive notes or a device to work on. There will be a break for lunch, and a shorter morning and afternoon tea break. You can bring food and drinks or pick up something nearby if you prefer.
Please note that attendance at both days is required and refunds can only be granted in exceptional circumstances.
We look forward to meeting you and exploring this training with you.
