Come join us to celebrate International Day of the Midwife.

The theme for 2026 is One Million More Midwives. There’s a global shortage of one million midwives. That means millions of people are going without the care they need and deserve. With the focus of the IDM celebration this year being to push for action, to drive a global moment to demand the investment, leadership, and recognition midwives need to join and stay in the workforce.

This event is to bring us together, nourish the soul and help support us through this degree to be apart of this action to join and stay in the midwifery workforce.
We will have some time to chat and mingle before we host a screening of the documentary Pacific Mother. A beautiful documentary that will nourish the soul and broaden your understanding.

About the film:
“Why do mothers have to fight so hard for what feels so right?”
The documentary Pacific Mother began with this simple question from Sachiko Fukumoto.
In Pacific Mother, Sachiko travels from Japan to Hawai’i, Tahiti, the Cook Islands and Aotearoa New Zealand to connect with strong ocean women, whose stories about birth and parenthood inspire a more traditional, connected way of life.
Through their interwoven stories, the film explores the importance of community, reclaiming traditional birthing knowledge and the connection between caring for the planet and nurturing both parents and their children.
