- To construct and further develop students’ confidence through the study and practice of public speaking skills and oral literacy.

- To support students’ acceptance of opposing views, enhancing abilities to think critically through deepening understanding of rational (practical) and emotional/moral (principle) arguments.

- To promote interpersonal communication between students of different campuses, seeking to enhance student life on campus directly/indirectly.

- To deepen students’ understanding of the rhetorical tradition, its principle contributions to contemporary and historical political, public and private life
