2025 Up and Running!

The Strathfield Social Work Society is thrilled to say our first event of 2025 was a great success! In collaboration with the Trans Justice Project, we created 50 postcards to send to the QLD Health Minister Tim Nicholls, asking him to re-instate vital gender affirming healthcare for young trans folks. Our new students at orientation day showed great empathy, understanding and respect around the cause and many came along to make a postcard or have a chat, and we are very grateful. The future is looking bright.

Social Work Afternoon Tea

Master's students will be putting on an afternoon tea on Monday, 14th of April for social work students of all year groups to get to know each other. It will be starting at 1pm at the Strathfield campus, with the details of the location yet to be announced. We will send out an email once the location is confirmed, and would love as many students there as possible. 

Masters Students running SafeTALK


Keep an eye out for information on ACU Life as the Masters students will be hosting an SafeTalk workshop during week 9. SafeTALK is a four-hour training that equips people to be more alert to someone thinking of suicide and better able to connect them with further help. 

 

Reminder re: Placement Compliance

A reminder for all second year students who will be undertaking placement at the start of 2026, that you must be 100% compliant by October 31st 2025.
For Master's students undertaking placement in second semester this year, you must be 100% compliant by May 31st. Information regarding this can be found on Canvas under 'Social Work Field Education Information Hub'. 

The Social Work Society will be running first aid and CPR in student vacation week in both first and second semester. This will be at a discounted rate for society members. Keep an eye out for more details!

Next Meeting

The commitee will meet on Tuesday, 8th of March at 5pm. It will be in the Social Work conference room, however if you would like to join online, let us know and we can send a link.
