2026 was another successful year for ACU FC with the club making history and picking-up more silverware.
For the second year in a row, ACU FC fielded teams in both the men’s and women’s premier league competitions: the Bill Brackenbury Premier League and Grace Martin Premier League.
The men’s team made history as ACU FC became the youngest club to ever qualify for the BBPL grand final. A tight contest finished with Hurlstone Park Wanderers winning 1-0 but it was a campaign to be proud of.
The women’s team were unfortunate, having been in a finals position for a large part of the year, a late season lull saw the team just miss out on finals.
Elsewhere, the club won their first ever overage titles with the O35 men winning the premiership and championship double, while the AA12s became the first men’s team at the club to win back-to-back grand finals after a very impressive finals campaign.
These three titles added to the Ashleigh Campbell Shield that the club won in pre-season.
Individual awards and accolades
Michael Taouk became the first player to reach 100 games for the club, a significant milestone for a talisman of ACU FC. All 100 and 50 games players are recognised at our annual awards night and are listed on our website.
At our annual awards night, Kristian Burgess was recognised at the Club Person of the Year after a selfless year of working hard for the club and the committee.
Notable, the Women’s Div 1 team became the first club to win the ACU FC Fair Play Award – a new annual prize started by treasurer Andrew Fathers to recognise the team who plays in the fairest manner.
David Plowright won the club’s Golden Glove and Jordan Foti won the league-wide Bill Brackenbury Premier League Golden Boot.
