Bake Sale for Birth Kits
The team at Melbourne MidSoc will be selling homemade goods to fundraise for Birth Kit Foundation Australia. Birth kits provide the absolute essential items for those without healthcare to birth safely. Every $5 provides the materials for 1 birth kit, including soap, gauze, gloves and more. Join us later in semester 2 to prepare the kits for women and birthing people around the world.

Fetal Monitoring Masterclass with Leading Expert Dr Kirsten Small
Dr Kirsten Small (she/her) is a retired specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist. She is an educator, researcher, author, and the person behind the Birth Small Talk blog. Her mission in life is to cut through myths and misinformation about fetal monitoring practices so women can confidently choose an approach that works best for them. Kirsten is a neurospicy introverted feminist who lives on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia. When she’s not busy overthrowing the patriarchy she’s usually grandparenting, gardening, or crafting. CTG monitoring is a core skill set for midwifery practice, with much time and effort dedicated to developing and maintaining interpretation skills. Dr Kirsten Small will take us back to the basics in this presentation, exploring the evidence base for different fetal monitoring options. In which situations is there: clear evidence of benefit from CTG use? evidence of no benefit from CTG use? evidence of harm from CTG use? She will remind us of the importance of providing accurate information to women and birthing people as they make decisions about fetal monitoring options for their own labour.

Spinning Babies
Improve labour outcomes with a Spinning Babies® Foundational Workshop. Learn physiological techniques that offer a complete system of birth preparation and labor ease concepts to improve labour with the baby's position. The workshop costs $120 US dollars (approx $170 AUD). Please note you will be redirected to the Spinning Babies website and will need to purchase your ticket there to secure your spot. You need to be registered on ACU life and Spinning Babies to be a registered attendee.

Birth Kits Assembly Day
Volunteer and donate some of your time to help those in need. We have partnered with the Birthing Kit Foundation Australia to provide women in need with safe sterile birthing packs. Clean Birth Kits are a valuable resource in emergency and humanitarian settings to help prevent infection for mothers and newborns. The cost of a kit is AU$5, register or donate today.
