Polymerization involves combining smaller molecules together to make bigger ones

In this experiment you'll combine the LONG polymers of the conditioner with the LONG glucose chains in cornstarch to make CLOUD PUTTY!

Oobleck, A Non-Newtonian Fluid

A classic polymer.

Oobleck acts like a normal (Newtonian) fluid. It flows and fills the shape of any container you put it in. But add some shear force (whack it) and its viscosity changes!

From liquid to solid. The viscosity of the oobleck increases as shear stress increases.
